The International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination is observed with a series of events and activities worldwide on March 21 each year. The day aims to remind people of racial discrimination’s negative consequences. It also encourages people to remember their obligation and determination to combat racial discrimination.
The meeting devoted to the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination took place in the reading room of the Ivano-Frankivsk Central Library.
The theme of the event was "Discrimination is a shame for democracy". Medical students of the Department of Foreign Citizens Training from Poland, Ghana, Nigeria, India and deputy dean for the educational work Svitlana Rodchyn took part in this event.
"All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights, - said the head of legal club, librarian Maiia Shehda. — The International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination emphasizes that racial discrimination is a crime against human dignity."
All the participants actively discussed the problem of discrimination not only in Ukraine, but also in Western European countries.
